CHARTERS Several companies offer bus charter services for meeting and convention groups, whether it be transportation to an event site, local sightseeing tours or longer excursions. Each of the companies follow San Diego County safety guidelines and has instituted additional cleaning protocols. You can also charter one of Old Town Trolley’ s distinctive trolley cars for a two-hour tour of the city that covers 26 miles and more than 100 attractions.
SAN DIEGO’ S METROPOLITAN TRANSIT SYSTEM( MTS) Public transit is available to and from the airport and Downtown San Diego with an MTS bus route that stops at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Buses operate daily with service every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on the weekends. Buses also connect with the San Diego Trolley, Coaster and Amtrak and are wheelchair accessible.
SAN DIEGO TROLLEY It is hard to miss MTS’ s bright red trolleys that crisscross Downtown and beyond and provide convenient service from the San Diego Convention Center to such popular locations as Old Town San Diego, the birthplace of California; Fashion Valley, an outdoor mall known for its luxury shopping; Snapdragon Stadium and the international border, as well as the Westfield UTC mall in University City and eight other new stations on the new UC San Diego Blue Line extension.
TRAINS Located in Downtown San Diego, the historic Santa Fe Depot offers service with Amtrak and the North County Coaster, which conveniently connects Downtown and Old Town to the region’ s charming coastal communities, including Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside. Amtrak’ s Pacific Surfliner runs along the scenic Southern California coastline and is a great way to avoid car traffic while traveling to such destinations as Anaheim, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Even better is being able to soak in the scenery, all while relaxing and sipping an adult beverage.
